How do I use the group?
- Choose 'Find Locums' under the Practice Manager menu and your requirements are passed onto the group. If you have not already registered an account, you will need to do so before you can continue.
You will receive an email to verify that your email address is valid. If you are using a .wales.nhs.uk address then your account will immediately be activated and you can start posting your requirements. Some locums also post their availability and can be booked directly via the site.
Once you post a requirement it is emailed to any available locums. They will then make offers for any of your dates through the site. You will get an email notification when outstanding offers are available for a shift for you to review. It is recommended that you decline or accept offers promptly as locums can make offers for the same session to different practices, so if you are not responsive then someone else may accept their offer elsewhere.
You can choose 'Remove Shifts' under the Practice Manager menu to mark particular shifts as filled or no longer needed.

Do I have to use an NHS email address?
- No, but it will introduce an extra delay (on the order of hours) before your account can be approved to post work.
Are users vetted?
- When people apply to join the group it is confirmed that they are doctors by checking their GMC number or by another member vouching for them. Of course, you would still need to confirm their GMC, performer's list status, and indemnity - as you would for any new locum working at your surgery.
What's the rate?
- Locums using the group are independent - the group does not act as an agency or a locum chambers. No discussion of negotiable rates for locum work is allowed on the group as that could open the group up to accusations of cartel activity.
What's the cost?
From October 11th 2019, the following charges will apply to practices
- £2 per booked (not just requested) session
- £0 for a long-term locum advert (with the assumption that practices will notify the site of agreed sessions as each session would be subject to the £2 booking fee above).
- £10 for a permanent position advert
New practices to the site are given a £10 credit so they can test out the site without commitment. Practices will be invoiced annually or when a reasonable amount has accrued.
What if I want to book a locum again?
If you want to book a locum introduced through the site again, it would be appreciated if you would do so through the site or notify me so an appropriate booking fee can be charged for those sessions. The 'Notify Extra Shifts' menu item can be used for this. If you have used them before through another route, there is nothing wrong with contacting them directly, but otherwise it removes revenue; the fees charged are very modest compared to competitors.
Can I send salaried job offers to the group?
- Yes, you can advertise permanent posts through the website. The option is under the 'Practice Managers' menu or you can click here.
I'm a recruitment agent. Can I email the group?
- No.
